Tekken’s Kazuya Will Be In Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tomorrow
Nintendo just published a new Nintendo Direct focused on the latest addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Tekken’s Kazuya Mishima. Most importantly, he’ll be available sooner than you think.
Game director Masahiro Sakurai talks about the philosophies in bringing a 3D fighter like Kazuya into the 2D SSBU mix. He picked Kazuya not because of his main character status, but for his Devil Gene powers. See, he uses his Devil Powers as his specials, while his normal moves are based on his signature attacks like EWGF and his 10-hit combo. Also, his EWGF and other high-level moves require players to pull off crouch dash (forward, down, down forward) and the attack button.
He is a comeback fighter who comes with some weight with his moves and fighting style. He even has some level of armour in his moves. However, his range is pretty bad.
When Kazuya’s life reaches 100%, he enters Rage state. Just like in Tekken 7, he deals a bit more damage and knocks enemies out frequently. If he pulls off a Rage Drive, he exits Rage state immediately. All in all, he’s a fighter with loads of moves and counters, but requires some finesse to pull off as he’s considered slower than the rest of the SSBU cast.
His colour choices in SSBU range from throwbacks to even donning the colours of his son Jin.
When Kirby copies him, Kirby can pull off the Devil Blaster.
Kazuya will be available for purchase in the Challenger Pack 10 of SSBU on 29th June PST for US$5.99. The pack contains Kazuya and the Mishima Dojo stage.
As a bonus, Mii Fighter versions of Shantae from Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, Dante of Devil May Cry, the Dovahkiin from Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia will be available for $0.75 on the same day Kazuya is available.
