Yokohama’s New City, a capsule hotel known for its samurai period and anime art motifs, has seen better days since the COVID-19 pandemic hit last year. The hotel has gone out of business a few months ago.

Instead, the hotel is now an airsoft venue for airsoft enthusiasts. The hotel itself is in good shape with its utilities intact, meaning that airsoft players and competitors will not be wading in debris like in other airsoft venues (via SoraNews24).

In fact, players can use the building’s still-functioning security cameras and P.A. systems for their airsoft games.

Hotel owner Yori Fujii said that he’s excited for the new opportunity this presents, even though he wasn’t expecting the reception to be this popular. He managed to get this all sorted thanks to the airsoft-themed bar Get@City.

“New City was always a capsule hotel where we wanted to try new things, like capsules with anime, samurai, and ninja themes…I’ll be happy as long as the New City building can be a place for new challenges.”
