Borderlands 3 Senior Developers Leave Gearbox For New Project
Seems like it’s the changing of the guard in Gearbox. After serving about a decade in the company, a good number of Borderlands 3 senior developers will be leaving the company to work on a new independent project together (via Axios).
They are creative director Paul Sage, senior producer Christopher Brock, lead mission designer Keith Schuler, and art director Scott Kester. News of the exit was announced internally about two weeks, with Gearbox already shifting new team members over. All of them are leaving “on the best of terms”, according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford.
“Before their transition, the group was part of a not-yet-announced pre-production team and their departure will cause minimal disruption in our current plans. The bulk of our attention at the moment is dedicated to finishing ‘[Tiny Tina’s] Wonderlands, which is on-track”.
Borderlands 3 has been out since 2019 and has been receiving a good number of DLCs and hotfixes; with a new action RPG coming, this seems like a natural transition. We wish those leaving the best of luck with their new endeavours.
