Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator/director Hideo Kojima has mentioned his approval of the current indie darling adventure title 12 Minutes, which is out now for PC and Xbox consoles, as well as Xbox Game Pass.

He stated on Twitter that hasn’t been this engrossed with a game to this level since Inside.

“Once you get used to the overhead view and the controls, you won’t mind. It’s a game using intelligence. It’s like the Amiga games I used to play. I still haven’t cleared it yet, but it’s fun. I’m afraid of Dafoe’s visit!

I feel like Dafoe is going to come in the front door in ten or so minutes… Normally I’d welcome him, as I’m a huge fan of him, but after playing TWELVE MINUTES, I’m afraid he’s going to punch me. Nice casting though.”

He even made some movie comparisons in the game’s design and art, most notably the carpet pattern being similar to the one in The Shining and Dafoe’s voice similar to his previous role in The Lighthouse.

He has gone on record that 12 Minutes has inspired him to create another adventure game. Yeah, before he was known as the guy who made Metal Gear Solid, he was known for his adventure games Snatcher and Policenauts. Both games are also inspired by the films he watched when he was young.

12 Minutes is a time-loop mystery adventure game starring Willem Dafoe, James McAvoy, and Daisy Ridley. We’ll get to reviewing that game when we have time. Heh.
