Hawkeye Episode 6 Finale Easter Eggs & Breakdown

The sixth and final episode of Hawkeye Season 1 is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia. I’ll be discussing heavy spoilers so if you haven’t seen it or want to avoid spoilers, now’s your chance to stop reading.

Hawkeye is an original new series set in post-blip New York City where former Avenger Clint Barton aka Hawkeye has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. But when a threat from his past shows up, Hawkeye reluctantly teams up with Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old skilled archer, and his biggest fan, to unravel a criminal conspiracy.

The Kingpin Is Officially In The MCU

It turns out that Eleanor Bishop (Vera Farmiga) is working with Wilson Fisk AKA the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) because she’s obligated to due to her late husband’s debts to the crime lord.

Eleanor Bishop Killed Armand Duquesne & Framed Jack For It

Eleanor admits to killing Armand Duquesne and framing Jack for it all. However, this is the last straw for her, as she breaks it off with the Kingpin over fears of her daughter getting too close with everything.

Kingpin Loves Maya Like A Daughter, But He Knows That She’s About To Turn Against Him

In the comics, Maya Lopez is Wilson Fisk’s adopted daughter. It looks like the MCU version is pretty much the same, as we see Kingpin saying “I love you” to Maya, which means that he loves her like a daughter. However, he later tells Kazi that he knows Maya is going to turn on him.

Kate’s Wearing Her Full Costume For The First Time

Finally, she’s wearing the iconic costume from the comics.

Jack Duquesne Is A Good Guy, Not A Villain

It looks like Marvel Studios is giving us a twist this time. Unlike in the comics (in which he started off as a villain), this Jack seems to be a good guy from the start, even helping Kate fight some of the Tracksuit Mafia bros.

Another Pym Particle Arrow, But This Time To Make Things Tiny

Kate uses another Pym Particle arrow, but this time it makes the Tracksuit Suit mafia truck as small as a toy. Funny stuff.

Maya Kills Kazi

Maya kills Kazi because he doesn’t want to leave his life as a criminal behind.

Kate Fights And Defeats The Kingpin Using The “Too Dangerous” Trick Arrow

The MCU version of the Kingpin is closer to the comics than even the Netflix version. This Wilson Fisk can rip car doors off with his bare hands, so Kate initially gets beat down but manages to defeat him using the trick arrow that’s designated “Too Dangerous”, which is simply an explosive arrow.

Eleanor Bishop Gets Arrested

After the Kingpin gets taken down, Eleanor Bishop gets arrested for killing Armand Duquesne.

Clint Knows The Same Secret Whistle That Natasha & Yelena Shared Together

In a touching and heartbreaking moment, Yelena stops trying to kill Clint when she hears Clint using the same secret whistle she shared with Natasha. They then both shared how much they both loved Natasha.

Maya Kills The Kingpin, But The Shot Is Offscreen

Maya confronts a weakened Kingpin, and shoots him, seemingly killing him. However, the shot is offscreen and we don’t see a body, so it’s still possible that we might get to see Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk again.

This happened in the comics before, in Daredevil (Vol. 2) #15. However, Kingpin survived the gunshot, only losing his eyesight temporarily. After getting reconstructive surgery, he goes back to being the Kingpin (see below). So, it’s likely that the MCU’s Kingpin is still alive as well.

Perhaps even in the upcoming Echo series featuring Maya Lopez as the protagonist? Fingers crossed.

Lucky The Pizza Dog Finally Gets His Name

When Clint’s kid asks the name of the pizza dog, Kate finally speaks his name for the first time and it’s Lucky.

Now That’s A Logo We Haven’t Seen In A Long Time

It turns out that Clint managed to retrieve the mysterious watch, which was initially stolen from the Avengers Compound and was about to be sold at auction earlier in Hawkeye Season 1. Surprisingly, the back of the watch features the logo of none other than SHIELD, and the watch seemingly belongs to Laura Barton, Clint’s wife (who is a former SHIELD agent). If we ignore Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD as non-canon, SHIELD has been gone from the MCU since 2014’s Captain America The Winter Soldier.

If you notice, there’s also a number 19 there, which means that Laura Barton is actually none other than the Marvel character Mockingbird. This is a bit confusing because we technically already have a Mockingbird; Bobbi Morse played by Adrienne Palicki in Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD. However, that series is not fully canon, so perhaps the real Mockingbird of the MCU is or rather was, Laura Barton.

Adrienne Palicki as Mockingbird.

It could also be possible that Bobbi Morse inherited the Mockingbird mantle from Laura Barton in the MCU. Who knows?

Clint Burns The Ronin Suit

Clint burns the Ronin suit, which effectively means that he’s finally moving on from his troubled past.

Hawkeye Finale Post-Credits Scene

Yes, there’s a post-credits scene in Hawkeye Season 1 Episode 6 finale, but it’s exactly substantial in any way. It’s just a full rendition of the Steve Rogers The Musical Broadway song, “I Can Do This All Day”. Besides that, there’s really nothing much to speak of in terms of teasing the next MCU movie or series.

Hawkeye Season 1 has been a great and grounded series. Until the next one, keep keeping on, true believers. Excelsior!
