Scarlet Nexus Sequel To Be More Mature, Says Devs

Scarlet Nexus game director Kenji Anabuki would love to make a sequel to the JRPG, if given the opportunity.

While the game’s endings have tied up a number of plot threads, there are parts of the game that could be expanded more in a follow-up. Anabuki said that his idea of a Scarlet Nexus sequel could approach the concept of superpowers from an “even more mature” perspective (via an Inverse interview). If you ask me, I’m all for the team taking it a step further. Kasane’s route does head to some dark territory albeit with some anime bits spliced along the way.

On a related note, Scarlet Nexus’ appearance on Xbox Game Pass gave the series a much-needed boost in publicity and popularity according to Anabuki. He also mentioned the positive feedback the game has been getting:

“We have received a lot of positive reviews regarding the battle system, story, and characters. One reason might be due to the development experience I gained from working on the Tales Of series.

If there is a sequel, I would personally want to utilize the “superpower” theme in areas other than battles. The world and settings of the story could potentially be created to suit an even more mature audience; by exploring themes like the dangers of having or using superpowers.

We have done as much as we can and added several features after launch into the game based on user feedback. However, I have decided that paying more attention to industry trends and the newest user preferences will definitely benefit the gaming experience.”

Scarlet Nexus is one of KKP’s best games of 2021; read our review on the title here.
