Marvel Confirms Spider-Man No Way Home’s Daredevil Is The Same Version From The Netflix Series (Update)

Updated on 4 April 2022:

Only one day after we reported the original story, Marvel has suddenly removed the paragraph that makes Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil ‘canon’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The recap on the official website now stops where Daredevil’s story ended in Season 3 of the Netflix series. You can read the deleted paragraph which mentions Daredevil’s role in Spider-Man No Way Home in the original story below.

While Charlie Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil in a brief cameo in 2021’s Spider-Man No Way Home, it was previously unclear if he was playing the same version from the Netflix series (or the Defenders Saga, as it is now currently known after moving to Disney+).

After recapping all the events of all three seasons of the Netflix/Defenders Saga Daredevil series, here’s the chronology following that, according to the official website:

Sometime later, Matt was hired as an attorney to defend Peter Parker, as Peter had been publicly outed as Spider-Man and accused of Mysterio’s murder. Though Peter was legally cleared of any wrongdoing, Matt warned him he’d still have to face the court of public opinion and advised Harold “Happy” Hogan to hire a good lawyer. As if on cue, a protestor threw a brick through the window of the Parkers’ apartment in support of Mysterio. Fortunately, due to his heightened senses, Matt was able to catch the brick before it hurt anyone inside. When Peter asked him how he was able to do that, Matt claimed it was because he was a really good lawyer and left it at that.

Now we know that the Netflix Defenders Saga is pretty much canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Let’s wait for Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist (yes, he wasn’t that bad), and the Punisher to show up in the future.

In the meantime, check out my Spider-Man No Way Home breakdown and post-credits explanation article here.
