Take-Two Boss Wants To Add FIFA To Roster Along With NBA 2K & WWE

NBA 2K’s parent company Take-Two Interactive is in talks with FIFA to develop a rival for EA’s new independent football simulation game.

As some of you may have heard, the 30-year long partnership between FIFA and EA is coming to a close after this years release of FIFA 23.

FIFA has since announced they are in talks with multiple leading game publishers, media companies and investors in order to rival EA.

Take-Two Interactive is one of those game publishers. Best known for developing NBA 2K and WWE, Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick was interviewed by IGN in regards to his interest in wanting to add FIFA to the roster of owned sports games.

“We’re definitely interested in expanding our opportunities in sports, and FIFA has a great brand and incredible clout, but we have no current plans to discuss,”

When asked during Take-Two’s earnings call on Moday, Zelnick went on to prefice,

“Well, we noticed [that the FIFA licence is up for grabs] and we tend to be thoughtful about our business at all times,

We’re excited about building out our sports business and we don’t have much else to say at the moment.”

FIFA’s very own president, Gianni Infantino stated boldly,

“I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans.

The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25 and FIFA 26, and so on – the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain THE BEST.”

So we’d best be excited for what FIFA has in store for us in these coming years.
