Stray Hits Record-Breaking 60,000 Concurrent Players on Steam

Everybody wants to be a cat~

…And they did so, in a title that’s taking the gaming scene by storm, at least on Steam.

With over 60,000 PC users currently playing the game upon release, Annapurna Interactive‘s recent adventure title Stray has broken its own record and made its biggest PC launch to date.

Released on 20th July, Stray’s peak concurrent player count currently stands at 62,963 based on the official Steam figures site. Only 12 other games are currently being played by more Steam users, including free-to-play FPS Apex Legends and Grand Theft Auto.

Market analyst Benji-Sales revealed in a tweet that Stray has elegantly broken Annapurna’s record for concurrent players on Steam, which was previously clutched by Twelve Minutes with 8,021. Behind that are Outer Wilds (7,936), Neon White (3,277), and Journey (1,757).

With its beautifully crafted atmospheric dystopian environment enveloped by the inevitable conquering of nature, on top of being an immersive cat-sim adventure game, it is perhaps to no surprise for us that Stray has won the hearts of many gamers of all ages to have achieved this statistic. The cat’s pyjamas, as one reviewer on Kakuchopurei would say.

What do you think of this latest achievement and milestone by Annapurna Interactive? If you haven’t already, will you be coping with this game and immerse yourself in the life of a cat with a cute backpack on you and accompanied by a handy-trusty little robot companion in your adventures?
