Here’s Why Pre-Ordering Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II Early Is A Great Idea
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be out on 28th October. However, if you pre-order the digital version, you will get early access to the game’s single-player campaign for a week.
Yes, Activision has discovered a potential tactic to get people caring about a CoD story campaign: have it accessible early. This is a different tactic than before where a CoD game usually entices people to buy the game early with multiplayer bonuses and beta tests instead. Other pre-order bonuses include open beta early access to Modern Warfare II’s multiplayer and the Final Judgement bundle which includes access to the legendary tier Deathknell operator skin and Bloodthirsty weapon blueprint for use in CoD Vanguard and CoD Warzone.
The digital pre-orders for Modern Warfare II (PC, Xbox, and PlayStation versions) will grant “up to one week” of early access to the full campaign starting 20th October. That’s quite a generous window considering people will take ages downloading and installing a giant-ass CoD game these days.
Will this work in getting people interested in CoD’s single-player campaign though? Things don’t look so rosey: stats on the achievements site True Achievements seem to allude that less than 1/3rd of the player base will complete a CoD campaign, but that’s a crying shame considering the majority of CoD games have pretty great single-player campaigns that last up to 8 hours.
