Overwatch Accounts Are Merging; Overwatch 2 Cross-Progression Is Going To Be A Reality

When Overwatch 2 launches this October, the Blizzard PvP hero shooter will include both cross-play and cross-progression across all of its platforms.

Starting right now, Overwatch players can now merge their accounts across the PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch; this means they can bring their cosmetics, credits, and gameplay statistics into one unified Blizzard account.

The FAQ that Blizzard handily put out states what is required to merge multiple accounts:

  • A Battle.net account, which goes without saying,
  • A requirement for cross-play in Overwatch since 2021,
  • Figure out which credits, Overwatch League tokens, achievements, and skill ratings will carry over. In most cases, they either add up or pick the highest number associated with a specific stat.

A couple of catches though: players can only merge one account per platform. If you have multiple PC accounts on one console, you have to choose which one to merge with your unified Battle.net account. Overwatch League tokens purchased on Nintendo Switch will not be merged into a unified account and will remain on that platform.

Check out the full FAQ here. Overwatch 2 will be out on 4th October.
