Sunsoft Is Rereleasing Ikki As A 16-Player Vampire Survivor Clone
Sunsoft are known not just for their awesome 90s NES titles, but also arcade games like Ikki, where you play a farmer fighting off the daimyo and his army of ninjas in pixel art shooting glory.
It wasn’t that good, but Japan seems very fond of the classic. Which is why Sunsoft is bringing it back as a “roguelike” called Ikki Unite. Instead of one farmer, the game now supports 16 farmers online to fight and riot against ninjas and samurai to protect their village. Based on what we’ve seen, Sunsoft got bitten by the Vampire Survivors genre as the game plays like that: you pick a farmer, he/she has auto-attacks and sets of skills, you survive as long as possible, repeat.
Here’s the description:
“You can’t riot with just one or two people!”
The legendary “bad game” that once had people scoffing is back, and this time it’s time to unite!
It’s the autumn harvest, a time to rejoice in the fruits of labor, but a swarm of locusts ravage the land!
The village is in trouble, and yet the collectors still demand taxes… So let’s start a rebellion and get our rice back, and protect our village!
This time we aren’t alone! It’s time to Ikki Unite with up to 16 people!
It’s the MOST CASUAL of ONLINE COOP games with simple controls and satisfying gameplay!
Cooperate and dodge bullets to defeat the enemies, and collect items.
Head towards the Daikan Yashiki!
This is roguelike action… but united!
The revived arcade/NES title will be out for PC (Steam) this 2022. Check out the cute gameplay trailer and screenshots below:
