Pixar Announces Inside Out 2 Featuring A Teenage Riley

During the Studio Showcase Day 1 at D23, Disney Pixar confirmed that they’re working on Inside Out 2, a sequel to 2015’s Inside Out.

According to Deadline, Kelsey Mann will direct Inside Out 2 with Meg LeFauve returning as screenwriter and Mark Nielsen producing. Amy Poehler (who voiced Joy in the original film) said that Inside Out 2 will again “take place inside Riley’s head, only this time she’s a teenager,” with Riley this time encountering a new set of personified emotions that haven’t yet been named.

However, it’s currently unknown which of the voice cast will be returning with the sole exception of Amy Poehler as Joy. The original Inside Out grossed nearly US$859 million worldwide after releasing in June 2015. It then went on to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Inside Out 2 will release sometime in summer 2024.
