Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2 Is Not Happening, Confirms CD Projekt Red

Sorry, Cyberpunk Edgerunners fans. It looks like Cyberpunk Edgerunners won’t be getting a second season after all.

In an interview with Japanese publication Famitsu, CD Projekt Red Japan community manager Satoru Honma said that there were no plans for Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2.

As translated by VGC, Honma stated:

“I personally would like to continue to work with Japanese studios to produce more anime in the future, partly because we have received very good feedback.

However, just to be clear, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was planned as a standalone work, so there’s no such thing as ‘we are actually working on Season 2 in the background’.

Even if we could make more anime in the future, I don’t know if it would be Season 2 or something completely different.”

He confirmed that Cyberpunk Edgerunners was indeed a standalone project. However, the bright side is that there’s hope for CD Projekt Red to make more anime set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. It’s just that it probably won’t be related to or be a sequel to Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
