Shenmue Anime Cancelled

Remember that really cool Shenmue anime trailer? Well, that and the first season is all you’re going to get when it comes to that particular adaptation.

Despite the fanfare of the first season anime series that aired on Adult Swim and Crunchyroll earlier this year, the show is cancelled. Yes, a second season is in the works, but Warner Discovery vice president of action and anime Jason DeMarco said the cancellation was confirmed.

“Sorry guys. This happened. You can still watch all of the anime on Crunchyroll and it will still be available as digital downloads. And yes, it’s looking like no S2 of Shenmue, even though sadly—it did well enough that we were gearing up for S2. Maybe one day…”

It does suck for Shenmue fans. But hey, at least we can look forward to a fourth game from creator Yu Suzuki. I mean, the third Shenmue game was successful….
