Kaiju No. 8 Anime Reveals Teaser Trailer And Poster

Kaiju No. 8, the sci-fi fantasy manga that has been recently getting attention since its launch in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ website, is getting an anime series.

Earlier this year, creator Naoya Matsumoto confirmed the manga adaption is in the works. After a long silence, a teaser trailer of the project has gone live. The trailer showcase Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell) will be handling the adaption production and Studio Khara (Rebuild of Evangelion) is in charge of designs and artwork. The anime will be getting its debut in 2024; no specific release window is mentioned.

Not familiar with the series? Here’s the original synopsis of Kaiju No. 8;

“With the highest kaiju-emergence rates in the world, Japan is no stranger to attack by deadly monsters. Enter the Japan Defense Force, a military organization tasked with the neutralization of kaiju. Kafka Hibino, a kaiju-corpse cleanup man, has always dreamed of joining the force. But when he gets another shot at achieving his childhood dream, he undergoes an unexpected transformation. How can he fight kaiju now that he’s become one himself?!”

The official Kaiju No.8 Twitter account releases the key art of the protagonist, Kafka Hibino’s Kaiju transformation. We are definitely loving the badass design. It’s going to take a while for both studios to get the full series ready but from the looks of its teaser trailer, it will turn out gorgeous and diabolical. The series has a total of eight volumes published digitally and physically. It is also one of the top-selling titles at Shonen Jump this year, based on Oricon annual report.
