Sony Distances Itself From Days Gone Director For Recent Comments

A while ago this week, Days Gone writer and director John Garvin has made some controversial comments regarding the game being misjudged by “woke reviewers”; his Twitter account has been protected as of late. Check out the screencap below for a refresher:

As a result, Sony’s Bend Studio has distanced itself from his comments. An official Twitter statement said that it doesn’t share Garvin’s opinions, nor does this reflect the views of the team.

“Our studio is immensely proud of the work we accomplished on Days Gone and are thankful to every developer who poured their heart and soul into it. We are incredibly humbled by the support of our Days Gone community and we will continue to share your enthusiasm for our world and characters as we look toward the future.”

For the record, John Garvin and game director Jeff Ross left Bend in December 2020. They were the most senior creatives behind Days Gone, and have been with the studio since the mid-90s when they made Syphon Filter and its sequels. Oh, and also the infamous Bubsy 3D.
