The Final Project L Video For 2022 Showcases Illaoi In-Game, And Core Mechanics Breakdown

You want more Project L gameplay? You’ve got it!

Riot Games’ Project L update video features executive producer Tom Cannon talking about League of Legends Illaoi being playable in the game’s latest build, albeit being 30% complete. He also talked about some Project L origins: the game started off as a 1v1 fighting game, but morphed into a 2v2 fighter instead.

Just like tag team fighting games ala the Marvel Vs series, each character/Champion has two assist actions, with an assist input featuring a version that’s charged if you hold down the assist input.

The Handshake Tag allows a player to immediately tag in the other Champion on the team, provided that both characters are out of the screen at the same time. You can use this in tandem with basic assist action to create mixups and pressure situations.

The Dynamic Save acts as the game’s combo breaker. You start off with one Dynamic Save at the start of each match; it allows the second Champion to appear and save the point Champion. If it’s successful, the opponent will be blown back. However, the opponent can bait and punish the Dynamic Save if they predict it.

Check out the full video breakdown below. Project L’s release date and target platform/console have yet to be announced.
