Microsoft Raises Xbox Series X/S First-Party Games To US$70 In 2023

Microsoft Xbox is now joining Sony PlayStation and other game companies as they have announced that the price of first-party titles on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will be increased from US$60 to US$70 starting in 2023.

This will include upcoming 2023 games like Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield. However, console prices remain the same for now.

Speaking to IGN, a Microsoft spokesperson said:

“This price reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles. As with all games developed by our teams at Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass the same day they launch.”

This is not a surprising move, considering that Xbox head Phil Spencer has previously warned that they wouldn’t be able to maintain their prices for long. Perhaps we’ll even see console and Xbox Game Pass prices increase in the future, but for now, that won’t be happening yet. Meanwhile, Sony has been selling first-party PS5 games for US$70 or RM300+ since its launch in 2020.
