A Single-Player Titanfall Game Was Recently Cancelled
Sad news for Titanfall fans waiting forever for a worthy single-player campaign: the one that Respawn was making a while back in secret has been given the Titan boot.
Electronic Arts has reportedly cancelled a new single-player game set in the Titanfall/Apex Legends universe, aptly codenamed Titanfall Legends. A Bloomberg report stated that the game was in development at Respawn Entertainment by 50 people since 2021.
The game was led by creative director Mohammad Alavi until he left in January 2022. Alavi was a senior designer on the Titanfall series and narrative design director on Apex Legends during his 11-year stint in Respawn. Before that, he worked at Infinity Ward; his works include iconic Call of Duty missions like No Russian and All Ghillied Up.
Titanfall Legends was slated to be out by 2025 before the secretive cancellation. Staff who worked on the game and cannot be repositioned in other teams within Respawn will be laid off and given severance packages.
As someone who has praised Titanfall 2’s campaign, this really sucks. This also means we won’t get to see follow-ups to the memorable missions as shown below.
