Respawn Entertainment Reportedly Developing New Game In Titanfall World

A small team within Respawn Entertainment is reportedly working on an unannounced project set in the Titanfall universe.

This information came to light through Jeff Grubb, a reputable Giant Bomb reporter. Grubb stated that while fans of the series may harbour hopes for Titanfall 3, he mentioned that the unannounced project will involve the titular mech suits in some form or another.

Last Year, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella said a “very small” team was in the early stages of developing an original IP at the studio. The development is led by Steve Fukuda, the game director of Titanfall and Titanfall 2. In an interview with Axios, Zampella said the goal of this “skunkworks” team was to “find the fun in something new.”

In the latest episode of Game Mess Mornings, Grubb remarked that the project had entered a new prototyping phase. However, when discussing Respawn’s current projects, he clarified:

“There are always conversation about Titanfall 3. Whenever I do look into it, they’re not making Titanfall 3, they just straight up aren’t. They do have another team that has been kicking around a skunkworks project, that was in very early [prototyping]. There’s different phases of prototyping, there’s a very early, very small team prototyping phase, and now they’re going to go to a wider, like this is a real project now, but still in the prototyping phase, and that has happened with that game, and that is from the director of the original Titanfall.”

According to the reporter, the cancelled Apex Legends and Titanfall crossover game was intended to be the third instalment in the Titanfall series. The game, which was codenamed Titanfall Legends, was intended to be a single-player experience directed by former Respawn Entertainment creative director Mohammad Alavi. Alavi’s previous work includes stints in the Call of Duty franchise, Titanfall games, and Apex Legends.

In the proposed campaign, characters from Apex Legends would have been featured alongside BT, the titan companion from Titanfall 2’s story. Players would take control of Apex Legends character Blisk and navigate through the world while upgrading BT, it was claimed.

Although there has not been any official announcement from Respawn Entertainment regarding the enigmatic project, fans can only hope for the best.
