Malaysian Cosplayer Hakken and VTubers Appointed As Tokyo Tourism Ambassadors

A well-known Malaysian cosplayer, Hakken recently announced on social media that they were appointed as one of the Tokyo Tourism Ambassadors. In addition, three famous Hololive members were also included: Sakura Miko, Mori Calliope, and Gawr Gura.

According to an official Japanese tourism Twitter account, the Tokyo Tourism Ambassador campaign is created to promote the charm of Tokyo at home and abroad and to attract tourists from around the world to the city – appointing sixteen notable influencers who are expertise in their own field helping to boost the campaign. The selected influencers will immediately start their PR activities once the inauguration ceremony ends.

Hakken Ryou, a popular cosplayer from Sarawak, Malaysia has garnered over 900,000 followers on Twitter, 1.5 million followers on Facebook, and 3.8 million followers on Instagram since their first appearance back in 2010. Their currently signed by entertainment brand Tier One Entertainment as a cosplayer and model. Hakken has even been invited as special guest at Anime Festival Asia 2022, Anime Fest 2022, and Tokyo Street 11th anniversary celebration held in Pavillion, Kuala Lumpur last year.

Hakken’s cosplay considered “royalty” among anime enthusiasts for their beautiful, highly detailed cosplays as handsome male anime characters such as Gojo Satoru from Jujutsu Kaisen, Zhongli from Genshin Impact, Uchiha Itachi from Naruto series, and many more.
