Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Documentary Showcases Mo-Cap Work For Like A Dragon 8
SEGA has released the first episode of a Ryu Ga Gotoku docu-series titled “Behind the Scenes of Like a Dragon!”. It showcases the behind-the-scenes development of the upcoming Like A Dragon 8, or Yakuza 8.
This episode shows the staff of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio taking on the challenge of developing Like A Dragon 8 shortly after the company’s transition to a new structure. This includes the work of motion capture filming and recording sessions overseen by Like A Dragon 8 Director Yokoyama himself.
One of the new pieces of information revealed in the first episode of the docuseries is that Like A Dragon 8 actually started development back in December 2021. The developer only officially teased the game back in July 2022 and officially announced it in September 2022.
They also reveal that the reason why the mo-cap for characters in the franchise looks more realistic is because the actors are told to act normally instead of exaggerating their movements.
We’re sure fans of the franchise will love delving into how the developers at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are working on Like A Dragon 8. In the meantime, check out our review-in-progress of Like A Dragon Ishin by heading over here.
