Latest Halo Infinite Update Changes How Ranked Playlist Matchmakes
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|March 2, 2023|0 Comment
Halo Infinite just received an update that brought about some balance adjustments to snipers and weapon mechanics, as well as bug fixes that players have been clamouring for, but also change to the Ranked mode too.
One of the most popular features of the game is its Ranked playlist, where players are ranked according to their skill and performance. And guess what? The developers have finally listened to player feedback and made changes to the Ranked matchmaking system.
The Halo Infinite Ranked has been switched from MMR (Matchmaking Rank) to CSR (Competitive Skill Rank), which means players will be more fairly matched against opponents of similar skill levels.
This change is based on player feedback and should result in better balanced matches. Submit a ticket at https://t.co/Ya2f8ZXD20 if you encounter issues with unbalanced teams in Ranked playlists. (2/2)

Your rank is determined by your performance in your first ten ranked competitive matches, and it gets updated as you play the game. At the start of each season, your rank gets reset, so you need to climb as high as possible.
CSR is the rank visible to other players, while MMR is the hidden rank used by the game to determine a player’s skill. The recent change means that the skill of your teammates and opponents will be more variable, but defeats won’t be harshly penalized, making it easier to rank up by grinding.
It’s important to note that new or casual players who don’t have a rank will still be matched based on the old MMR methodology.
The developers made this change after listening to player suggestions, and if you encounter any issues with unbalanced teams in Ranked playlists, you can submit your feedback. Some players are also requesting that MMR-based matchmaking be removed entirely from social playlists due to imbalances in the old system.
