Rare Celebrate Sea Of Thieves 5 Year Anniversary With A Documentary
Rare, the studio behind the beloved pirate adventure game Sea of Thieves has released a new trailer for their upcoming documentary, Sea of Thieves: Voyage of a Lifetime, to celebrate the game’s fifth anniversary.
The documentary promises to give fans an inside look at the development and release of Sea of Thieves, featuring never-before-seen footage and candid interviews with the team. Christina McGrath, head of community and communications at Rare, said that the documentary pulls back the curtain on the game’s evolution in the most detailed and raw way it’s ever been discussed.
Rare has also revealed some exciting new details for Sea of Thieves season nine. Players can expect a new high-value loot item called the Chest of Fortune, which comes with its own Commendations and cosmetics. There are also new Voyages for Captains and Pirate Legends, as well as better-balanced World Events based on crew size. And if that’s not enough, there are 100 more levels of Seasonal progression for players to work through and earn rewards by raising Renown.
In other Sea of Thieves news, it was recently announced that Lucid Games, the studio behind Destruction AllStars, has been working with Rare as a support studio on the game. While Lucid Games was originally given development duties on Sony’s Twisted Metal video game reboot, the project was later moved to PlayStation’s Firesprite studio.
All in all, it’s an exciting time to be a Sea of Thieves fan! Whether you’re a seasoned pirate or a newbie looking to set sail for the first time, there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months. So hoist the anchor, raise the Jolly Roger, and get ready for some high-seas adventure!
