Capcom’s latest Resident Evil 4 remake has been doing pretty well, having sold more than four million copies in less than a month. It seems that the company is hoping that its upcoming animated film, Resident Evil: Death Island, will ride on the coattails of the remake’s success. The latest images of the movie are looking good, especially for die-hard fans.

A reliable source, Dusk Golem, has shared a new Japanese onesheet and a group shot that features Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers, standing together to face a fearsome foe.

Known locally in Japan as BIOHAZARD DEATH ISLAND, Resident Evil: Death Island is directed by Eiichiro Hasumi (“Assassination Classroom”) and written by Makoto Fukami (“Psycho-Pass”).

The movie is rated R and is a direct sequel to Resident Evil: Vendetta. The story follows D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor after he was kidnapped. But things get complicated when a mysterious woman tries to stop him.

Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, and they can’t identify the source of the infection. The victims all recently visited Alcatraz Island, so Chris and his team head over to investigate. But what they find there is even more horrifying.

Resident Evil: Death Island is set to release on 7 July in Japan, but there’s no word yet on when it will be available internationally. Fans of the franchise are sure to be eagerly awaiting its arrival!
