Deathloop Was Made Due To Bethesda’s Uncertainty Over Dishonored 3

Many folks wanted a new entry to the Dishonored games from Arkane Studios. Its publisher Bethesda? Not so much.
See, Arkane’s last game Deathloop, which we loved a lot, was made out of the publisher’s uncertainty over whether it wants to go forward with Dishonored 3 according to Arkane founder Raphaël Colantonio (via Rock Paper Shotgun). Deathloop was supposed to be a smaller and experimental project.
“Bethesda wanted us to do something. They didn’t quite know where we were going after Dishonored. ‘Do we want Dishonored 3? I don’t know, let’s make something simple and short before, and let’s see.’
And then [Deathloop] became a big thing, over the years. That was the funny thing: ‘Nah, we don’t wanna do Dishonored 3, but if you can pitch us a small game, something that maybe has multiplayer so we can learn multiplayer, something that maybe has microtransactions, maybe something with a lot of recycling, like a roguelike.
[In the end], it would probably [have] cost just as much to make Dishonored 3. But back then it was not meant to be.”
Speaking of Arkane Studios, it’s making a new game called Redfall, a PvE multiplayer game where you kill vampires in the fictional town of Redfall. The game will be out on PC and Xbox consoles this 2nd May, but we suggest you get the PC version: the latter version will only run in 30fps.
