Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel to Start After Phantom Liberty
One of the games that was featured at the Summer Games Fest was CD Projekt Red’s expansion of Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty. The demo showed CD Projekt working hard to patch over some of Cyberpunk’s glaring flaws. This will include a new police AI with a somewhat similar style to GTA’s notoriety’s system, a skill tree just for combat augments and expanded car combat.
A lot of players have asked what happens after Phantom Liberty and well according to an interview with Bloomberg, director Gabe Amatangelo will be moving on to the sequel. CD Projekt did announce that a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Orion, was planned back in October 2022.

“Based only on what I actually played, Phantom Liberty is so far a second helping of Cyberpunk 2077. If it were still 2021 that would’ve been a hard sell for me, but last year’s Edgerunners update smoothed over some of the game’s worst problems and let its best qualities shine—the characters, guns, cars, and unbelievably pretty city. If the Phantom Liberty update does the same, I’m hopeful it’ll be the expansive sendoff that Blood and Wine was for The Witcher 3.” – Morgan Park, PC Gamer based on his preview of the expansion.
