Everdeep Aurora Is An Old-School Style 16-Bit Platforming Tribute

Publisher Ysbryd Games and developer Nautilus Games are making a new 16-bit side-scroller that hearkens back to Castlevania, The Goonies, and Lost.

The game is called Everdeep Aurora and it features you as a cute cat named Shell who explores the titular Everdeep. The catch? There isn’t any form of violence or enemies to fight; it’s just you, your wit, your platforming skills, and puzzle-solving demeanour.

Check out the trailer & features below. Everdeep Aurora is slated for a 2024 launch for PC and Nintendo Switch.

Key Features

  • As you descend, your decisions determine Shell’s route through the depths, from secret caverns to sprawling underground dwellings.
  • Encounter characters along the way with unique personalities and, sometimes, optional side quests.
  • Atmospheric pixel art and an evocative soundtrack, with palettes and musical themes shifting from one location to the next.
