Ex-God Of War Director Joins Netflix To Work On An Original AAA Game

Netflix has recently made a big move in the gaming world by bringing on board a well-known developer to join their game studio in sunny southern California. This talented individual is none other than Raf Grassetti, the former art director of the popular God of War franchise. After spending over ten years at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio, Grassetti decided to embark on a new adventure with Netflix.

In an exciting announcement, Grassetti revealed that he’s now a part of the Netflix studio, led by Chacko Sonny, the former executive producer of Overwatch. He won’t be alone in this endeavour, as he’ll be collaborating with Joseph Staten, a veteran from the Halo series, who recently left Microsoft. The team also includes Jerry Edsall, a technology expert who previously worked as the lead programmer on Gears 5.

Grassetti couldn’t contain his enthusiasm, expressing his happiness and anticipation for the opportunity to create a brand-new, original AAA game at Netflix. He looks forward to assembling a talented team and working alongside Staten, Edsall, and Sonny to breathe life into an entirely new world.

Netflix has been making significant strides in the gaming industry. In March, they announced plans to release a whopping 40 games in 2023 alone, aiming to have a total of 95 games available by the end of the year. Building on its success of offering mobile games to Netflix subscribers, the company has 16 first-party games in development and a promising lineup of 70 more games being worked on by third-party studios.

With the addition of Grassetti and the team’s collective expertise, it’s clear that Netflix is serious about expanding its gaming division and providing an even more immersive entertainment experience for its audience. Gamers and Netflix fans alike have much to look forward to as this talented crew works their magic behind the scenes to bring us a whole new gaming universe.
