Kraven The Hunter Trailer Shows Spider-Man Villain Getting His Powers From A Lion

Sony Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for Kraven The Hunter, which will premiere in Malaysian cinemas on 5 October 2023. Unlike other Spider-Man spinoffs like Venom or Morbius before it, Kraven The Hunter will be R-rated.

The synopsis simply says:

Kraven the Hunter is the visceral story about how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Set before his notorious vendetta with Spider-Man, Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the titular character in the R-rated film.

However, the trailer shows this version of Kraven getting his powers from lion blood. In the comics, he gets his powers by regularly ingesting the potion made from various unnamed jungle herbs and by training. It certainly seems like the movie will be just as ridiculous as 2022’s Morbius (check out my review here).

Directed by J.C. Chandor, the movie also stars Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe as Kraven’s father.
