[Report] Marvel Studios, Universal & HBO Are Skipping San Diego Comic-Con 2023
San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2022 was one of the biggest Comic-Cons in years, but it looks like the 2023 edition might not be able to match that same level of hype and excitement. According to a report by The Wrap, Marvel Studios will not be having a big presentation at the famous Hall H at SDCC 2023.
The same report also claims that HBO and Universal won’t be attending SDCC 2023. The biggest reason for the absence of these major companies at SDCC 2023 is said to be attributed to the ongoing WGA writers’ strike happening across the USA. There’s also the possibility of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) ordering a strike anytime after their current contract with Hollywood studios expires on 30 June 2023 if a deal is not reached.
However, Marvel might still have a presence on the SDCC 2023 floor. It’s just that they probably won’t be announcing anything new. Just last week, Disney announced that almost every upcoming Marvel Studios project has been delayed. With the current uncertainty looming in the industry, it’s no wonder that Marvel Studios and these other companies would want to skip SDCC this year.
SDCC 2023 is slated to take place starting from 2o July to 23 July 2023.
