Acquire Announces Twin-Stick Shooter Xaladia: Rise of the Space Pirates X2

This weekend marks the launch of Japan’s indie gaming gathering BitSummit Let’s Go!!, which takes place at the Miyako Messe Exhibition in Kyoto, Japan from 14 to 16 July. As such, we’ll be hearing more indie game announcements.

Here’s one to keep an eye out for: a new twin-stick shooter from Acquire. The game is called Xaladia: Rise of the Space Pirates X2 and features 2D shooter action featuring barrages of lasers and missiles, some turret base-building, and a lot of space pirate-massacre-ing (via Famitsu). It’s looking like a massive tribute to Space Invaders, but with that indie game flair you see in your XBLA entries back in the day.
