Netflix’s Godzilla Animated Series Gamera Rebirth Drops New Trailer; Premiere Later This 2023

Gamera: Rebirth, an animated Godzilla series to premiere on Netflix later this year, and the streaming service has finally set a release date for the Kaiju’s comeback with a new trailer and posters.

Gamera, a classic kaiju once considered one of Godzilla’s biggest competitors, is making a major comeback as part of a new Netflix anime series that pits it against five other kaijus. The five other kaijus are: Gyaos, Jiger, Zigra, Guilon, and Viras. In the new trailer, these kaiju are all shown in their full glory along with a taste of the theme song and how the anime looks on screen.

Check out the official posters of all the kaijus including the recently released poster:

Studio ENGI is the studio in charge of animating the series. Atsushi Tamura (Weathering With You, Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island) is the character designer and manga creator Kan Takahama (Nyx no Lantern, Heisei Gamera films) as the monsters designer. Meanwhile. Sh?ji Katayama (Knights of Sidonia: Love Woven in the Stars) is the music composer and Yoshikazu Iwanami is the sound director. The rock band WANIMA is providing the theme song for Gamera: Rebirth titled “Natsuake”.

The voice cast lineup of the animated series is Hisako Kanemoto as Boko, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Joe, Aki Toyosaki as Junichi, Subaru Kimura as Brody, Mamoru Miyano as Tazaki, and Saori Hayami as Emiko.

The Gamera: Rebirth is derived from a trilogy of Gamera films directed by Shusuke Kaneko, namely Gamera: Guardian of the Universe (1995), Gamera 2: Attack of Legion (1996), and Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris (1999). As a result of the Japanese era in which these films were released, the three films are also known as Heisei Gamera.

Netflix will be streaming the anime exclusively worldwide and it is listed to be a total of six episodes. Gamera: Rebirth is set to premiere on 7 September 2023 exclusively on Netflix.
