[Rumour] Sam Raimi Making Spider-Man 4, Claims Sandman Actor

In an interview with ComicBook.com to promote Twisted Metal, Thomas Haden Church (who played Flint Marko AKA Sandman in 2007’s Spider-Man 3 and 2021’s Spider-Man No Way Home) has claimed that there are rumours about Sam Raimi returning for Spider-Man 4.

Church said:

“There’s always been some kind of…I’ve heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [Spider-Man movie] with Tobey [Maguire] and if that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo.”

It’s unknown if this Spider-Man 4 is the same project as the one that Marvel Studios is currently working on. Back in February 2023, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed that a Spider-Man 4 script was already in development, but this is a sequel to 2021’s Spider-Man No Way Home and not 2007’s Spider-Man 3. If Sam Raimi is helming this project, it’s unlikely that Sandman would be returning considering where we left Tom Holland at the end of Spider-Man No Way Home, which was essentially a soft reboot for the character.

It will probably be a while before we get official news on the future of Spider-Man movies, especially now that Hollywood is currently embroiled in the ongoing SAG-AFTRA writer-actor strike.
