Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Realms Of Ruin Open Beta Is Now Live

The Open Beta for real-time strategy game Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Realms Of Ruin is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. Players can download the beta on their respective platforms and jump into 1v1 cross-platform multiplayer with two complete factions, the Stormcast Eternals and Orruk Kruleboyz. No additional platform subscriptions are required to play the Open Beta on console. A Frontier account is needed to participate.

Players will take command in fiercely competitive and visually spectacular fantasy battles. They’ll engage in a brutal tug-of-war for control of the map, summoning new troops to the battlefield, gathering resources, capturing Victory Points and ambushing their opponents across multiple fronts. Alongside 1v1 online matches, the Open Beta also offers an option to play against an AI bot.

Console and PC players can try the DirectStep™ control scheme for the first time, which allows for rapid-fire movement orders, instant cycling between squads and flexible command of the battlefield on a controller. Traditional mouse and keyboard RTS controls will also be available on PC and console. To learn more about the basics of the game and how to play Realms of Ruin, players can head to the Open Beta page on the official website.

The Open Beta gives players an early opportunity to check out Frontier Developments’ world-class art and animation up close, as each unit on the battlefield draws significant inspiration from its tabletop counterparts. From the Stormcast Eternals’ brutal Annihilators and winged Prosecutors to the Orruk Kruleboyz’ lumbering Marshcrawla Sloggoth and mobs of Hobgrot Slittaz, authenticity is at the heart of Frontier’s approach to adapting this universe for the RTS genre.

In Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Realms Of Ruin, players will wage a campaign of brutal conquest in this realm-shattering real-time strategy (RTS) game set in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar universe. Players will command four unique factions in dynamic battles as part of a story-driven campaign and test their mettle against warlords afar in online multiplayer.

Players will tame the savage Realm of Beasts in a rich narrative, exploring the nature of war and survival from the perspectives of righteous champions and villainous generals. Battle for survival and dominance across a campaign featuring four major factions, including Stormcast Eternals and Orruk Kruleboyz, and experience a twisted plot, penned in conjunction with acclaimed Black Library author, Gavin Thorpe.

The Open Beta is designed to test the game’s servers and assist the developers in faction balancing, and it will end on 10 July 2023 at 11.59 pm BST. A second Open Beta is planned for later this summer, with further details to be revealed soon.

Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Realms Of Ruin is coming soon to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
