AniManGaki 2023: Kicks Off With A Bang For Its 15th Anniversary

It’s time for the biggest ACG (Anime, Comics, and Games) event in Malaysia, AniManGaki. Marking its 15th Anniversary, AniManGaki 2023 will take place from 25 – 27 August 2023 at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre. Get ready to have an exhilarating experience filled with exciting cosplayers, stunning artwork, meet-and-greet sessions, carnival games, and more!

The exciting line-up of events and activities at AniManGaki 2023 includes several changes, including:

  • An extension to a 3-day convention, giving attendees more time for all things ACG.
  • An expansion of the panel room to accommodate a larger audience.
  • A seating section has been added for attendees to dine comfortably.
  • Additional booths in the Artist and Cosplay Alleys, giving fans more opportunities to purchase merchandise.

Let’s check out in full detail what they have in store this year.

Cosplayer Alley

For those who love cosplay, this is a must-visit. You’ll see some of the best cosplayers in the country dressed as their favourite anime, manga, and video game characters. Some cosplayers will have fan services from re-enacting poses with fans to princess carry. Even guests of the AniManGaki dress in cosplay. Just remember to say Hi and ask permission to snap their photos!

Artist Alley

Over 250 booths will offer a variety of handcrafted and unique ACG merchandise. Among the items displayed are paintings, acrylic keychains and stands, prints, jewellery, and sculptures from a diverse group of local and international artists. These items are both eye-catching and exquisite for fans to purchase. You can purchase their artwork by cash or using QR Pay.

Carnival Games

One of the highlights will undoubtedly be the gaming activities. These games are not only fun but also easy to join, allowing attendees of all ages to participate and enjoy themselves. In the ROG section, players can engage in quick gameplay sessions of popular titles like Genshin Impact and Overcooked 2 and get free goodies once they’ve completed playing two of its games.

ROG Ally went on sale last month in Malaysia for RM3299, so for those who are on the fence about getting it, you can test it at AniManGaki this weekend.

Additionally, there will be a meet and greet with cosplayers Celineyan and Joann on August 26th and 27th.

The AMG official carnival games offer a variety of fun challenges for everyone to test their skills. Players can choose from 3 different options: throwing ping pong balls in cups, rock-paper-scissors, and Hanafuda Bingo! One token costs RM5.00 to play and discounts offer for those who wish to play more than once. With such a diverse range of activities, AniManGaki 2023 promises to create memorable moments for all attendees.

Awesome Showcases

There are several show-stopping exhibits at the ACG event that are sure to get visitors stopping to take pictures. From cool cars to motorcycles to stunning artist works that are out of this world! Don’t believe us? Here are some of the pictures we took.

Vtubers Alley

Claimed as one of the largest Vtubers gatherings in Malaysia, AniManGaki 2023 features over 100 Vtubers in the local scene to meet, including familiar and new ones! Various cut-outs of Vtubers are displayed along with QR codes for their respective social media accounts. Make sure to visit and support our local Vtubers!

For those looking to try something new, try out Shogi! A strategy board game for two players, it is one of the most popular board games in Japan and is in the same family of games as Western chess. It’s free-to-play for all ages. The representative will explain the rules and even teach you the basics of the game.

That’s not all! If you’re a fan of the DnD franchise, there’s a special booth for you to vote for your favourite DnD class and even options to participate in upcoming online community events. All you have to do is just scan the respective QR codes of the online event and it will directly lead you to the discord channels.

Notable Booths To Visit

One of the notable booths to check out at the event is the Passion Republic booth. Attendees will have the opportunity to not only play the hit game GigaBash, but also to purchase a variety of premium merchandise. Among the merchandise available, one can find the adorable plush toy, Woolley, along with other original characters from the game. This booth is sure to be a hit among gamers and fans alike, offering both entertainment and collectables for all to enjoy.

Furthermore, our friends from The Magic Rain have set up a booth where attendees can try out two local indie games – Kabaret by Persona Theory Games and Midwest. It’s fun and definitely something new to explore for gaming enthusiast who wants a taste of the local indie gameplay.

We spent a total of 6 hours visiting every corner of the ACG event and had fun meeting friendly people and playing lots of games! Visit AniManGaki’s official website for more information.
