Level Up KL 2023: MDEC Teams Up With Web3 Company Acxyn
It’s a bold new day for the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as it is now fully venturing into gaming and web3 technology.
MDEC is teaming up with Acxyn, one of the world’s first Web3 IP tokenization platforms. The latter will be receiving a RM750,000 grant from the Malaysian government to mark “a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two entities”.
MDEC and Acxyn aims to position Malaysia as a global gaming hub, attracting foreign IPs and international game studios to help boost Malaysia’s digital growth. As to what new companies they aim to attract to Malaysia remains to be seen, but they’ll most likely involve web3 tech, blockchain, and all that jazz.
Acxyn CEO John Schneider expresses enthusiasm for the partnership.
“We’re excited that MDEC shares our vision for a future in which game IP’s can fully realize their economic potential and establish Malaysia as a hub for innovation and excellence in the game industry.”
MDEC CEO Mahadhir Aziz also has this to say:
“This collaboration serves as a testament to MDEC’s commitment in driving digital transformation and fostering a thriving creative ecosystem, further reaffirming Malaysia’s position as the digital hub of ASEAN. Through the Malaysia Digital (MD) national strategic initiative and PEMANGKIN programmes, we look forward to continuing supporting Acxyn’s growth, driving the adoption of creative technologies and propelling Malaysia to the forefront of the web3 revolution.”
