Naughty Dog Is Cutting Developers; The Last Of Us Multiplayer Game “On Ice”

Trouble might be brewing in the house that made Jakk & Daxter, Uncharted, and The Last Of Us, despite the latter game’s HBO TV series adaptation.

A recent report has stated that the first-party PlayStation studio Naughty Dog are cutting contracts short for many of its workers; about 25 developers as far as we know (via Kotaku). No severance is being offered for those laid off, and they have to work until the end of October.

In addition, The Last Of Us multiplayer spin-off Factions will be put on ice. The game isn’t cancelled, but it has seen negative internal reviews by other PlayStation first-party studio Bungie. Coincidentally, the layoffs happened a few months after Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells announced his retirement at the end of 2023 after being with the company for 19 years.
