XDefiant Delayed Once Again

XDefiant just can’t seem to catch a break, can it? Ubisoft’s much-anticipated free-to-play arena shooter had some promising vibes, but it hit a speed bump after a recent round of public playtests. The folks at Ubisoft San Francisco decided to pump the brakes on the preseason to work out a few kinks.

In a recent social media post, the team shared their thoughts:

Their message goes something like, “Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent Public Test Session and continues to stand alongside us as we build XDefiant. It also surfaced some inconsistencies in the game experience that we need to address prior to launching our Preseason.” Even though the playtesting had its moments, it also highlighted some quirks in the game experience that need addressing before we can dive into the Preseason. So, the preseason and, consequently, XDefiant, will have to wait a bit.

Right now, there’s no clear release date for the game. The team is committed to tackling these issues head-on and ensuring they serve up an exceptional arcade shooter.

This extra delay follows the news that XDefiant didn’t quite pass muster with both PlayStation and Xbox. While these hiccups might pave the way for a more awesome game down the line, we can’t help but feel a tad bummed for the team and the game’s fans. Fingers crossed that things get back on track soon!
