Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Golden Saucer Scenes “Will Be Memorable”

For 90s Japanese role-playing game fans, the Final Fantasy VII three-part remakes seem like a dream come true. And it’s going to allegedly get better from there with a recent interview with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s director Naoki Hamaguchi.

A recent quote from an Italian site Everyeye.it interview (via Twitter account Aitaikimochi) made some comments about Cloud and his party’s adventure in the amusement center Gold Saucer, and it’s not about the minigames on tap. Hamaguchi said that the Gold Saucer date scenes and its many, MANY choices will be memorable to old and new fans alike. The team plans to remake and modernize it like they did the Honey Bee Inn sequence in Final Fantasy VII Remake, as well as add in more optional explorable areas.

“A scene that I believe will be a vehicle of great emotion is the date at the Gold Saucer. I’m not just referring to the Gondola sequence with Aerith, and the conversation between her and CLoud, but to all the previous phases that lead to that specific moment.

We recreated the scene to make it more modern. Every part of it will be memorable […]. The possibilities of having a date with a character are now expanded from the original. There are now many more opportunities to bond with another party member than in the 1997 version. I’m sure fans will be talking about it for years to come.”

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be out in 29 February 2024 for PlayStation 5.
