M5 World Championship – Day 3: Dominance, Reverse Sweeps & Thrilling Victories

After Day 3 of the M5 World Championship, See You Soon continued their winning streak by sweeping Triple Esports. Despite the MENA representatives securing two turtles in the first game, the aggressive play of the Cambodian champions allowed them to control the match. The second game followed a similar pattern, with See You Soon winning in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. If ONIC Esports defeats Triple Esports tomorrow, See You Soon will secure a spot in the Knockouts.

Team Lilgun, known for reverse sweeps, lived up to their name in the first game against Team Flash. Despite a strong start by the MPL Singapore champions in the first game, the Mongolian champions recalibrated and convincingly won the next two games. In a post-match interview, Team Flash analyst Remas “Remaniscent” Hong stated that their loss was not due to underestimating Team Lilgun but being outplayed during crucial moments.

Geek Fam redeemed themselves after an opening game loss by securing a 2-0 victory over TheOhioBrothers. The win showcased their expertise in both macro and micro aspects of the game, keeping their hopes of qualifying for the Knockouts alive. However, to secure their spot, the MPL Indonesia runners-up need to win their final match against Deus Vult.

In the final match of the day, Blacklist International narrowly defeated Team SMG 2-1 in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. Despite a spirited fightback from Team SMG in Game 2, Blacklist International put themselves on the verge of qualifying for the Knockout stages. The deciding game was sealed after successfully shutting down Team SMG’s Khai Bean “Sasa” Lu, who failed to secure a single kill.
