World of Warcraft 2024: Blizzard Unveils Expansions, Updates & Roadmap

Blizzard has unveiled its plan for new content in World of Warcraft in 2024. Executive producer Holly Longdale shared details on the game’s official website, mentioning three upcoming updates for the current expansion, Dragonflight, before the release of its successor, The War Within.

Dragonflight Season 4 will revisit dungeons and raids, as well as outdoor content, offering updated rewards and some new elements. Following that, in the Spring/Summer, feedback will be sought during alpha and beta tests for The War Within expansion.

The anticipated launch date for the new expansion is set for late summer or early autumn in 2024. Longdale also outlined the plans for World of Warcraft Classic in the coming year, including updates for Classic Hardcore with ‘Solo Self Found’ support in February, additional phases for the Season of Discovery, and the impending release of Cataclysm Classic in the first half of the next year.

Blizzard had previously revealed three new expansions for World of Warcraft at BlizzCon, with Cataclysm making its way to World of Warcraft Classic. The Worldsoul Saga, described as an epic story marking the first 20 years of World of Warcraft and establishing new foundations for Azeroth’s future, begins with The War Within. Subsequent entries in the saga, ‘Midnight’ and ‘The Last Titan,’ will follow.
