Abigail Is A New Meta Vampire Horror Movie From The Directors Of Scream
By Alleef Ashaari|January 12, 2024|0 Comment
Universal and Radio Silence (V/H/S, Southbound, Scream, Scream VI) have unveiled their next horror movie together and it’s Abigail.
It’s directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo best known for directing several of the best horror movies in recent years, including 2019’s Ready Or Not, 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI.
The synopsis for Abigail reads:
“After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.”
It also boasts a star-studded cast, including Melissa Barrera (Scream franchise, In the Heights), Dan Stevens (Gaslit, Legion), Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Freaky), William Catlett (Black Lightning, True Story), Kevin Durand (Resident Evil: Retribution, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Angus Cloud (Euphoria, North Hollywood) as the kidnappers and Alisha Weir (Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical, Darklands) as Abigail.
This has the potential to be a horror highlight of 2024.
Abigail premieres in cinemas in April 2024, but at the time of writing, it’s unclear if it will be released in Malaysian cinemas. However, the local distributor, United International Cinemas Malaysia, did post the official trailer so there’s a chance.
