Just 10 days ago, publisher and developer Jyamma Games unveiled its latest entry, a Soulslike action RPG titled Enotria: The Last Song will make its debut on 21 June 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. 3 days later, Elden Ring has confirmed that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is scheduled for release on the same date.

Needless to say, having two Soulslike games choose the exact same date, with a brand new studio and franchise competing against the winner of the 2022 Game of the Year would not be a wise move. Upon hearing the news, Jyamma Games initially made light of the situation on the social platform Twitter/X, jokingly expressing their surprise. Now, the company has taken a more serious approach, sharing a message from CEO Jacky Greco on the Enotria: The Last Song Discord server:

“I wanted to thank all the gamers and content creators who supported us during the launch of our latest trailer. We are perfectly aware that release on the same day as Elden Ring for us, as for any other game, would be suicidal. For this reason, we were ready immediately to be able to take different paths and possibly postpone the game.

“On the 21st of March, during the Future Game Show, we will release our gameplay trailer, and on that occasion we will also let you know the new release date of our title. We will also have another big news to communicate to you on 21st of March, so we ask you to be patient and to continue to follow and support us.”

Players will take on the role of the Maskless One, a hero armed with a mystical sword named Ardore. Their mission is to break the cycle of darkness that traps the land in eternal stagnation. This stasis is imposed by the Canovaccio, a malevolent force that operates as if it were a never-ending play. Players will need to confront the Authors who are responsible for the Canovaccio’s creation.

The gameplay mechanics involve wearing different Masks acquired from the defeated enemies. Each Mask possesses its own set of benefits and drawbacks, enabling players to tailor their playstyle.

Enotria: The Last Song will be rescheduling its release date, and confirmation of the new date will be announced during the Future Game Show on 21 March 2024.
