Malaysian cinema chain GSC Cinemas has announced that the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom movie will start screening on 4 April 2024.

The synopsis reads:

In C.E.75, the fighting still continues.

There are independence movements, and aggression by Blue Cosmos… In order to calm the situation, a global peace monitoring agency called COMPASS is established, with Lacus as its first president. As members of COMPASS, Kira and his comrades intervene into various regional battles. Then a newly established nation called Foundation proposes a joint operation against a Blue Cosmos stronghold.

The Mobile Suit Gundam anime originally ran from 2002 to 2003 and a sequel series, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, ran from 2004 to 2005. Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom is a continuation of the series and will be the first Mobile Suit Gundam Seed film.

The Mobile Suit Gundam Seed franchise takes place in its own unique continuity and universe, the C.E. (Cosmic Era). An era in which there are human beings called Coordinators, born with superior physical and mental abilities thanks to genetic modification, and humans called Naturals who are born naturally. With their respective existence at stake, the ideological clash between Coordinators and Naturals escalated into war using armed force. Along the way, the Destiny Plan was proposed, which would forcibly assign a role to each individual and create a world free of competition. But amid the fighting, this Destiny Plan was rejected in order to protect humanity’s aspirations and future freedom. After this, the war that had claimed so many sacrifices came to an end. But even now, the antagonism and hatred between the two human races still smolders here and there…
