A special episode of the Xbox Official Podcast dropped today, revealing that four Xbox games are coming to other consoles and platforms. Three people participated in the podcast, including Xbox head and CEO Phil Spencer, Xbox President Sarah Bond and Xbox President of Game Content and Studios Matt Booty.

Sarah Bond confirmed that a new Xbox hardware announcement is coming sometime during the holiday season in 2024.

She said:

“There’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday. And we’re also invested in the next-generation roadmap.

And what we’re really focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players and better for creators and the visions that they’re building.”

However, she did not reveal anything else official or concrete about the new Xbox hardware.

That being said, this new Xbox hardware might just be the leaked new Xbox Series X model and controller designs back in September 2023.

Codenamed Brooklin, the new Xbox Series X design looks more circular than the current console and it will ship without a disc drive. It will have 2TB of storage (up from 1TB) and a USB-C front port with power delivery. They are also adding Wi-Fi 6E support, Bluetooth 5.2 radio, and the company is shrinking the existing die to 6nm “for improve efficiency.” The PSU power will be reduced by 15 percent and they are targeting the same US$499 launch price.

The documents also mention a refreshed Xbox Series S with 1TB of storage with Wi-Fi 6E support and Bluetooth 5.2, which will also include this new Xbox controller. According to the same documents, Microsoft is tentatively planning to launch this new Xbox Series S refresh in September 2024 and the new Xbox Series X refresh in November 2024.
