Huge Stardew Valley 1.6 Update Breaks Steam Player Record

Cozy gamers eat well today, with Eric ‘Concerned Ape’ finally releasing the much awaited 1.6 Stardew Valley update. Prior to this release, ConcernedApe has been teasing fans with updates on the patch. The update has been in works for quite some time now and it’s great to see it finally out now.According to SteamDB, Stardew’s previous peak was set back in January 2021 with around 95,000 concurrent player.  The game’s new peak has now leapt up to over 146,000 players.

The 1.6 update has only come out on PC. Console and Switch will get the update later, but there is not estimated time just yet. The patch is over 7,000 words so good luck if you want to go through that. Let me break down the important details for you:

  • A major new festival – Desert Festival in spring
  • 2 new mini festivals
  • new crafting recipes
  • new dialogue lines
  • new late-game content
  • winter outfits for villagers
  • a larger chest
  • 8-player co-op
  • Hats for cats and dogs, there are also two new cat and dog breeds; + you can now have a pet turtle

If you use mods, don’t fret, most mods are currently up to date with this update.
