Fallout: New Vegas Is, And Always Has Been, Canon, Says Bethesda

There’s a bit of a discourse going on right now in regard to the Fallout games and recent TV series on Amazon (which is highly acclaimed, by the by).

Not everyone is on board with how the show is presenting its story and timeline. Even though the show is set after the events of the games, some dates & important events in the show midway do not line up with the timeline of Fallout: New Vegas. This led to some people believing that the New Vegas storyline is being retconned out of existence alongside Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.

That isn’t the case, according to Emil Pagliarulo, Bethesda Game Studios design director/lead designer/writer of Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. He said the following:

“Of course it is. We’ve never suggested otherwise.”

To be fair, the show could have been a bit clearer about the events and timelines if they’ve always made New Vegas canon. Then again, maybe all this discussion and discourse is what Bethesda/Todd Howard and Amazon wanted just to convince diehard Fallout fans to give the show a chance.
