LEGOLAND School Challenge 2024 Now Open For Registration To Students In Asia

LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort today officially launched the highly anticipated LEGOLAND School Challenge 2024 with a special event at SK Bukit Damansara. In a move to directly address teacher feedback, this year’s launch focuses on empowering both teachers and students for success in the competition and beyond.

A highlight of the launch event was a hands-on workshop led by expert LEGO builders from LEGOLAND Malaysia, who provided teachers and students from 45 schools across Malaysia with the skills and inspiration to excel in the competition. The workshop focused on intricate LEGO building techniques essential for bringing imaginative creations to life, directly addressing a crucial area identified by teachers in previous years.

“The LEGO workshop gave me concrete techniques to help my students overcome common building challenges. I feel more confident guiding them through the creative process in this year’s competition,” said Iznariza Bt Che Izham, a teacher at SK Bukit Damansara who joined the LEGO building workshop.

LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort has forged a strategic nationwide partnership with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri (JPN) to boost student access to the STEM benefits of the LEGOLAND School Challenge. This initiative involves distributing LEGO sets, containing a whopping 2,500 pieces of LEGO bricks each, to 50 schools across the country. With these LEGO sets, students and teachers will be equipped with tools to participate in the LEGOLAND School Challenge and be able to explore their creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking – all cornerstones of a strong STEM education.

Encik Ithnin bin Mahadi, Deputy Director of Sports, Co-Curricular and Arts Division, representing the Director-General of Ministry of Education commented at the launch event,

“We are proud to continue our support of the LEGOLAND School Challenge. We believe this initiative not only recognizes the invaluable contribution of teachers, but also embodies our commitment to providing quality education enriched with STEM elements. By fostering creativity, innovation and critical thinking skills, the challenge aligns perfectly with our goal on enhancing the educational experience for students across Malaysia.”

The LEGOLAND School Challenge 2024 expands its reach, welcoming students from all over Asia, including China, Taiwan, India, Korea, and Japan, to join their peers across Southeast Asia. This international focus fosters cross-cultural collaboration and lets young builders share ideas under the exciting “World of Fantasy” theme.

For teachers and students outside of Malaysia, LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort offers a wealth of building inspiration on its social media platforms. Teachers can find helpful tutorials, creative challenges, and behind-the-scenes glimpses on their official Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

“LEGO bricks inspire limitless potential. Through the LEGOLAND School Challenge, we aim to empower both students and teachers. By fostering skill development and collaboration across borders, we can prepare the next generation to solve challenges and build a brighter, more imaginative future,” said CS Lim, Divisional Director at LEGOLAND Malaysia.

Registration for the LEGOLAND School Challenge 2024 is open until 24 May 2024. Students aged 7 to 17 can unleash their creativity with LEGO bricks, building fantastical worlds inspired by the “World of Fantasy” theme.
